Dale Armstrong was one of the kids in the neighborhood who was always building tree houses, soap box derby racers, and snow forts. After graduating from Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a degree in Fine Arts, Dale moved to Northern California. There he began his professional career, specializing in the large scale remodeling of older homes.

      His company’s reputation for creative solutions and craftsmanlike detail soon led to working exclusively with architects on renovations of high end houses in San Francisco and Marin County. He has even built a two story houseboat – all the way from the construction of the floating concrete hull to the installation of the entryway that adjusts with the tide.

     As much as Dale and his wife, Catherine, enjoyed Northern California, they knew they wanted to raise their family in a better environment for children. Since childhood visits with his parents, Dale had always loved North Carolina. So in 1992, they moved to Cary.

      Armstrong Custom Homes, Inc. specializes in new custom homes. Dale uses his design background and years of experience to build homes that work – homes that have a logical flow to them. He has earned a solid reputation by building every house “as if my own family was going to live there.”

     Catherine is very involved in the design aspects, helping to select and design floor plans as well as assuming much of the responsibility for tile, lighting, cabinet choices, and landscaping. She is also our Office Manager.

     The best compliment we can receive is when homeowners, after a year of living in one of our houses, tell us it is the best house they have ever lived in.

     Armstrong Custom Homes, Inc. has won numerous Gold and Silver awards, as well as Perfect Scores, in Wake County Parade of Homes competitions.

     And, as a final, useless, bit of trivia – Dale may be the only builder in Wake County who has appeared on Jeopardy!
